The new Pension Protection Act signed into law in 2006 means both changes and opportunities for employers that offer 401(k) plans. “The Act makes permanent some tax laws that are now in effect but had a sunset date of 2010,” said Park Bank Financial Advisor John Hutchinson. “The net effect is to encourage greater 401(k) plan participation and to make offering 401(k) plans more attractive to employers.
